Clear Creek County working to address budget shortfalls for Sheriff’s Office, EMS and CCHAT

County considering a public safety sales tax to help fund essential community services

Clear Creek County has been proactive in addressing its budget issues and operating within its means as revenue has declined—primarily due to the reduction in operations at the Henderson Mine. This situation has led to the county limiting its non-essential services and reducing staffing to maintain public safety services.

At the same time, calls for service and the needs of the community continue to increase beyond the current budget capacity.

This situation requires the county find ways to properly fund its core public safety services—including the Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and Community Crisis and Health Assistance Team (CCHAT)—to ensure a safe and healthy community.
